Sculptures by Velipekka Lukka in Kimito and Hyvinkää

Finland Proper, Southern Finland, Western Finland, Whenever, ITE environment

Velipekka Lukka’s iron sculptures on the Strömma Canal in the artist’s home yard were a landmark for passers-by for years. After the artist’s death at the beginning of 2026, a search for placements for the sculptures began. A happy solution has been found, and the magnificent sculptures are still on display for the public to see.

Some of the sculptures remain in Strömma and can be seen on the road as you pass by:

  • “Kuebiko” (in the yard of the village association at the Strömma warehouses, 25650 Strömma)
  • “The Fortune Teller” and “The Bug” (Dahlbyntie 36, 25650 Strömma)
  • Statue in the shape of a human (Dahlbyntie 1, 25650 Strömma)
  • Owl-shaped statue (Smedabölentie 14, 25650 Strömma)
  • Two Nameless Statues (Old Elementary School, Kanalgränd, 25650 Strömma)

Lukka’s stone and metal works can already be found in the courtyard of the town hall, church and library in the centre of Kimito.

Some of the works will be moved to the Middle of Nowhere Art Park. In the future, the park’s summer exhibitions will include the works Goddess of War, Blue-Eyed Gilamonster, Guardian IV, The Puppet Ruler and Nameless Statue. (Koskenmaantie 187, 05510 Hyvinkää)

The artist’s work has also been transferred to family and friends in private locations.
