Luukkulaakso, Risto Salmi’s sculpture yard

Bricklayer Risto Salmi’s home yard is filled with sturdy sculptures with absolutely unique materials: oven doors and stove rings!
Salmi, who works as a bricklayer, has bent the heavy iron into expressive human figures and a massive monument dedicated to his wife. The pizza oven in the yard is in line with the model of the Olavinlinna Castle tower. The artist has also made concrete sculptures inspired by Finnish musical legends of Irwin Goodman, Juice Leskinen and Remu Aaltonen.
The sculptures are in a private courtyard, so visits must be agreed upon in advance with the artist. Risto Salmi also organizes open house days from time to time, which he announces on his Facebook.
