Kokkolandia

Kokkolandia is Katri Kokko’s recycled art garden in Villähde, Lahti. The garden features more than a hundred sculptures steeped in humour, mostly amusing animal figures. Over the course of more than twenty years, the art garden has been created in the spacious grounds of a detached home.
Katri Kokko is a passionate gardener. Lush perennial borders, fruit trees and useful plants form an abundant backdrop for the artworks.
Kokko’s creations are made from rusty scrap metal, clay, coloured concrete and a wide range of recycled materials. Over the years, the collection of tools has grown from a concrete mixer to welding equipment. As a result, the techniques used are highly varied. Among the imaginative ideas are soft toys dipped in concrete.
