Ari Jauhiainen, who lives in Pielavesi, combines wilderness art and geocaches in his creativity.
Enthusiasts in the field call the destination a paradise for geocachers or an amusement park. In the works, lights flash, the radio plays and many kinds of sounds are heard. Old cordless drills, windshield wiper motors and car batteries serve as engines and power sources in the works.
There are 70 caches made by Jauhiainen in use. Most of them are located on the lands of his home farm Suontaus. Usually people try to hide geocaches, but Jauhiainen puts his own as wilderness art for all people. In addition, there is a Virvatuli hut open to everyone, a combination of a geocache and a barbecue cabin. Pielavesi’s only airport and air traffic control tower are also located in his home yard, although only for Jauhiainen’s own drones.
