Artists talk about their work The Flow of Time

Kati Leinonen and Tuomas Mujunen
Our work Flow of Time reflects on the memory of a place and the memories associated with the place. Does a place exist without memories? Does the place remember its passers-by?
Before the bridge, there was a ferry and a carpet pier on the site of the artwork. It was a river crossing, but it was also a place for washing carpets, swimming and fishing. The place was a meeting place, which is what we want it to become again with the work.
The work contains twelve natural stones that form a meeting place and an auditorium for the river. The stones invite you to stop, reminisce and reflect on the flow of time. The ever-flowing ancient water creates a contrast to the seat stones shaped by the Ice Age.
The twelve words in the stones form fragments that mirror the themes of the work – time and memory.
