In the spring of 2026, Erkki Pekkarinen <\/em>(b. 1936)  donated his collection of birch bark works to the Asikkala Local Heritage Association. The works are now on display in the Birch Bark Stables<\/strong><\/a> of the Asikkala Local Heritage Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photos on this memorial page tell about the time of the collection in the yard of Pekkarinen’s home in the Birch Bark Master’s Cottage. The photos were taken by Juho Haavisto in 2021 as part of the Association for Rural Education’s ITE in Häme mapping project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OPEN<\/strong> The museum is open 21.6-31.7.2026. Normally, the museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday (Wed-Sat 12-18, Sun 11-15, Mon and Tue closed).
